ARE YOU DOING THE SAME THINGS BUT EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS?

I speak to a lot of brokers that are frustrated. They are frustrated that they can't get leads, they lose the leads to the bank or other brokers or they feel like their business is chaotic and they have no control.
I get it. I've been the same position over my career more than once.
What I have learned is that, quite frankly, sometimes I didn't want to make the changes I need to propel my business forward.
I didn't want to reach out to another potential referral partner only to be rejected…again
I didn't want to call a client that I lost to ask why they went elsewhere
I didn't want to do the work to change my messaging because I thought, “What's the point? It won't work anyway”
I didn't want to spend the time refining my processes in order to reduce the chaos and increase revenue
Instead, I wanted to keep doing the same things and feel sorry for myself when they didn't work. Or decide that this business wasn't for me and wanted to quit.
What kept me going? What made me increase my income from $7000 the first year to $60,000 the next and then continuously increase every single year after that?
There was a deep feeling inside of me that knew that I was meant to be a mortgage broker. There was a deep feeling inside of me that knew I was meant to be an entrepreneur.
You know what the magic formula is to growing your business?
Consistency
Know your why, know your message, know what you can offer, and consistently deliver. Consistently show up.
Perfect your client journey so that you consistently deliver the same experience every single time (I might have a course that help you with that….)
Match your messaging on all platforms-social media, emails, conversations and websites.
Then tell everyone you ever talk to that you are a mortgage broker! Don't be shy!
Also don't be shy about asking for the business. The trick is to show value first.
This is a conversation I had with a young man recently. He was talking about wanting to buy a house.
Riley: “ Man I should have bought that acreage that was for sale a while back”
Me: “Are you interested in buying a house soon?”
Riley: “Yeah, but I don't have a steady income yet”
Me: “That is important. Also, before you make the decision to buy a house make sure that you can comfortably afford it. Owning a home is no fun if you're struggling every month to pay for it”
Riley: “That's true”
Me: “Before you go shopping make sure you get a pre-approval. And guess what? That's kinda what I do….”
Riley: “Oh really? Cool!”
Me:" Yep-so when you're ready you call me. Sound good?"
Riley: “For sure!"
You need to want this and you need to believe you can succeed. You also need to be willing to shift directions and change tactics if something isn't working.
Don't waste your time trying to get business from people that are never going to send you a lead or do not align with your values. It's defeating and demoralizing and a waste of your energy. Let them go-fast.
You are in charge of your business. Stop letting outsiders control you. Take charge. Make it yours.
I promise you that it becomes easier when you design your business instead of letting others design it for you.
