Do it right the first time

Growing up, I often heard "Do it right or don't bother doing it". Or, “Do it right the first time.” I am sure you did too.
Looking back I can see how little sense those sayings made and how much pressure we can put on ourselves to "Do it right the first time".
Nobody does it right the first time.
It's like telling someone that has never ridden a bike before to step on the bike and ride 1 mile perfectly.
Or telling a new mortgage broker to do their first mortgage file perfectly with little knowledge or guidance, and if they cannot then they shouldn't bother doing it at all.
Imagine telling Connor McDavid as a young athlete that he better not become a hockey player if he can't score every time he shoots at the net.
The greatest, most accomplished people in this world failed miserably and often before they got it right, me included. The gift that the accomplished people have is that they didn't give up. They learned through their failures and they kept going. You can too!
So instead of not trying because you can't do it right the first time, Just Do It (thank you Nike), and believe that even if you fail you have it inside you to get up, dust yourself off and keep going.
Give yourself permission to suck at something before you get good. Cause you will.
I would love to hear your story of how you failed and how you persisted!
If you are at the AMBA conference today and tomorrow let me know! I would love to connect!
