Your Journey begins with a single step

ree

A lot of people struggle with goal setting. Not because they don't want to achieve a goal but because they don't want to fail.

I invite you to shift your perspective.

Set the goal then forget about it. Write it down then put it away.

Focus on the journey. Focus on taking one step at a time towards your destination.

Those steps need to be intentional and directed towards your ultimate destination. So, if you want to increase your number of clients to 10 per month then what steps do you need to take to make that happen? Steps such as:

  • Attending networking events where your ideal client would be

  • Making connections with people that could connect you with more people

  • Taking a moment every morning to meditate and set your intention for the day

  • Having a mantra or something you tell yourself when things get tough

  • Reflecting back on how far you have come

When you focus solely on the end goal you lose sight of what is happening right now, and sometimes do not see the opportunities that are right in front of you. When you focus on making the sale instead of service and building relationships you are not building a solid foundation for growth.

I was listening to a podcast where the gentleman was talking about climbing a mountain. He said it nearly killed him. He said that when he was climbing a hill he would tell himself that he would be able to see the summit when he reached the top of the hill. When he got to the top of the hill what did he see? Another hill. He repeated this thought pattern on every hill and at the top of every hill he became a little bit more defeated. Every step got heavier. His body moved slower. He wanted to quit.

Then he shifted his perspective. He focused only on the next step. He let go of trying to get to the summit. He trusted that with every step we was taking was getting him closer to his destination. He couldn't focus on the summit because it was just too far away. He could only focus on what was in front of him.

This applies in business too.

You know where you want to go and you know the steps you need to get there. Just focus on the next right step.

If you are unsure of what those steps are, as a coach I can help you get there.
